I was in San Diego this past weekend with my family and of course we go out to eat. Breakfast Republic is my sisters favorite breakfast restaurant and I would agree. I had been here once the year previously and I was excited. I am not a huge breakfast guy so I just stick with simple things. I got 3 buttermilk pancakes with a side of bacon and it tasted amazing. Their pancakes were soft and fluffy and their maple syrup was smooth and delicious. Their bacon wasn’t anything special but it tasted great. I’m pretty sure these restaurants are only in places in California sadly but if you are in Cali and you see one, you must go in. My dad even bought a mug from the place after the first time we went there.
Mama Roni’s Pizza
More pizza! My friend and I were hungry after one of our classes and we wanted to go somewhere for lunch. I couldn’t decide so i just told him to choose. After about 5 minutes we settled on Mama Roni’s because I have never had it before and it is in close proximity to our school. I just went simple and got 2 slices of cheese pizza. It was filled with other students getting lunch. We decided to get it to go so we could get to class on time and eat in school. I wouldn’t call this my favorite pizza but it was pretty good. I was definitely more good than bad and i would go back for more in the future. My only critic would be to put some seasoning and flavor into the crust.
Olive Garden
I go to Olive Garden with my family usually on birthdays. My mom doesn’t like creamy things all of a sudden now so we will be going even less since most of their menu has creamy things. The past few times I have gotten the same thing. Fettuccine Alfredo. I love their creamy sauce that is on this and I always stuff my face with their wonderful bread sticks. I used to not eat their salad but I have kind of grown to like salad and their salad is pretty good. My mom doesn’t like the environment of Olive Garden because she says “it’s all old people hacking away” which is honestly kind of accurate. I still love their food but their prices are pretty steep which is why we only go on special occasions.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries
I wanted to go look at where my dorm room will be for my freshman year in college. My mom and I went to look at the building and location and we also wanted to grab some food. Since Five Guys was around there we decided to go there since we wanted some burgers. I ordered a very simple burger with just some lettuce, ketchup, pickles, and of course the actual burger. They cook all of their burgers well done which I am not a fan of but it wasn’t horrible. I am not sure if you can ask for anything but well done but it was still a good burger. They also have fries that are very good. They have a perfect amount of salt and seasoning on them. The price is pretty steep but i will definitely be returning in the future.
Dairy Queen
This isn’t a meal like all of my other posts but I thought that I might as well post about it because I was craving it. I always get a medium Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard. Every time I get this my mom tells me that it is going to be too much but I always eat it anyway. I wouldn’t say that I absolutely love Reese’s but i do like them to an extent. I like them even more when they are blended in ice cream because it gives it an amazing taste with the cold feeling and the peanut buttery taste. I just love chocolate in general. Dairy Queen is very unhealthy but even if you go and try a small blizzard then I recommend a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup one unless of course you are allergic.
Music City Hot Chicken
Like a couple other posts I have been recommended this place by friends. They said that they had great chicken. I will have to disagree. I am not sure exactly what they got that was so good but I got a 3 piece chicken tender type meal with a hot sauce on them. This sauce wasn’t even hot in my opinion and it didn’t taste good at all. The chicken looked burnt on the outside. The french fries were pretty decent and different shape then I have ever had so that was cool. I am a decently picky eater so maybe this isn’t a fair review. I may have to go back and try the Southern flavor which is just good ol’ chicken. At this point i won’t be returning for a while unless it is with friends and they persuade me. I won’t not recommend this place because obviously some people like it but be weary.
Comet Chicken
I have been told by a few friends that Comet Chicken is better than Raising Cane’s. I instantly disagree although I had never had Comet Chicken because Cane’s is the best. I held off for a few months and didn’t go to Comet Chicken but my friends still insisted so I tried it. No. In my opinion, it is worse than Cane’s. They have some pretty good fries but their sauces have no chance against the Cane’s sauce. I tried their buffalo sauce and it was too tangy to me. I would most likely not go to Comet Chicken again although it wasn’t horrible. If you like it then go for it and if you haven’t tried it I still recommend you should try it out because I do know people who love it. It was a good atmosphere and they had an interesting soda machine. They didn’t have any name brand soda’s but they still tasted very similar. Overall still not better than Cane’s but okay at best.
Wing Shack
Its not pizza! Pizza and Wings are two of my favorite foods. Wing Shack has a ton of different sauces that you are able to put on your wings. I just get 20 hot wings because in my opinion, hot isn’t too hot so that it is uncomfortable to eat, but it is still a bit spicy for flavor. I have tried other types of wings that were hotter and although I can eat them, I don’t enjoy them as much. They also have these deliciously seasoned french fries. They look like any old french fry in the picture but they are probably my favorite fries I have ever tasted. I ordered 20 wings, large fry, and a drink but they gave me two drinks for some reason. I wasn’t complaining. All of this cost about $16.50 which is expensive for one meal because i can eat a lot but it gets to be a lot cheaper if you can’t eat that much. I got this to go because I just got off of work and wanted to relax at home and watch some YouTube which is why the pictures don’t look very presentable or good but trust me when i say, Wing Shack is great.
Gib’s NY Bagels
You may think that most bagels are the same. They look the same, taste the same, etc. Not Gib’s. Gib’s bagels are fluffy, full of flavor, and a good size. I have ate Gib’s Bagels every week for a couple months probably. I know its not healthy but they are so good. I go there every Wednesday or Thursday morning before school. I also get a Nantucket Nectars Cranberry juice that pairs perfectly with the bagels. Of course this has a ton of sugar but hey, you gotta live life and after all, this is a blog about my unhealthy eating habits. I get two pretzel bagels because I love the taste of pretzels. If you have a Gib’s near you I recommend you get some of their bagels. They also have different types of bagel sandwiches if that’s what you are in to. If you can go early, that’s when they taste the best because they are fluffy and freshly made.
Fuddruckers
I went to Minnesota for a few days with my family. We always eat out when we are out of town which is my favorite reason for going on vacation or going out of town for any reason. We arrived on Friday and wanted to get something to eat on the way to the place we were staying at. After we got our baggage and rental car from the airport we drove down to Fuddruckers because it was on the way to the house. This is my 1st time eating at Fuddruckers unless I ate there with my family when I was very little. It is very different than any other burger place I have been to. I ordered my burger with american cheese and just a bit of pink. We waited for the burger and then we went to a buffet to put the rest of the toppings on. I just got pickles, lettuce, and ketchup. I sat down at the booth and bit into the burger and I think it is one of the best if not the best burger I have tasted. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, delicious. Everything you could want out of a burger. I am not a huge fan of their type of fries but they didn’t taste bad. If I had one in my town, I would definitely eat here more often.
